Our annual highlight event 2021

at the Digital Days

On October 18th, 2021, our Industry meets Makers participants successfully crossed the finish line for the 6th time as part of the Best of #IMM2021 online event at the Digital Days. After a short welcome from our supporters and network partners and the presentation of this year's iMMi award by the Austrian Society for 3D Printing and Trivion / Umdasch Group Ventures, 9 teams presented what they had achieved together in the previous 6 months.

On board were large companies like Phoenix Contact, PALFINGER, Infineon and VOSS / VOSS Incubator, research companies, location agencies and educational institutions like Salzburg Research, the Vienna Business Agency, MCI Innsbruck, the UAS St. Pölten and the UAS Salzburg, innovation drivers like Autonoma, Aspekt Development, Mayer Makes, DDC Engineering, MHT Instruments, RadarWorld.tech and Gemini Startup Base, as well as numerous further students, experts and maker heroes like Stephan Aigner, Jürgen Wrbra and Martin Exler.

The spectrum of solutions presented ranged from predictive analytics and smart production to innovative crane technology, new façade greening solutions and creative approaches to combating Covid19 using CO2 sensors to interactive e-learning applications for pupils and the use of smart textiles for greater safety when cycling.

The event was moderated from the ERSTE Campus in Vienna and broadcasted live online via B2Match and Zoom. Here you can see photos of the people who presented on site as well as video recordings of the entire evening programme in German. The synchronously interpreted English version of the videos will be added shortly.

You can read more about further results of this round in the article about our final pitches at the Future Tech Bootcamp in June and also in the form of in-depth maker and project portraits here in our blog, which will be published step by step over the coming months. At the bootcamp, other topics were also addressed by Energie AG / Wertstatt 8 (e-waste box), HP (shape the new world of work with VR), the Smart Textiles Platform Austria (object detection with smart textiles), Microtronics and TELE Haase (the deep tech control cabinet). Among others, experts from THIS PLAY, Frühauf Electric, Forschung Burgenland, Bischof IT, d4pro and SBA Research as well as student teams from UAS St. Pölten, UAS Salzburg, UAS Hagenberg and De Montfort University, a class from HTL Kapfenberg and other maker heroes such as Manuel Laber, Patric Freund, Gerhard Höfler, Roman Bruckberger-Koch, Leopold Zyka, Kim Dörries, Gabriel Danieli, and Jan Lösing and teams from Maker Austria and Makerspace A were present. Furthermore, the main programme also included topics from ABB (industrial use cases with cobots and robot studio) and VOSS / VOSS Incubator (a safe connection) and the bootcamp from RISC Software (Domino – a service that unites mobility) and PegelAlarm (FloodAlert), the results of which may be presented at a later date.

We would like to sincerely thank our supporters and partners, without whom our programme this year would not have been possible. First and foremost, these include DigitalCity.Wien, Digital Makers Hub, FFG, Vienna Business Agency, net for future, Business Upper Austria, ITG Salzburg, Standortagentur Tyrol, WISTO, BABEG, SFG, Business Agency Burgenland, the NOI Techpark, IV Niederösterreich and Smartup St. Pölten, as well as of course our local space partners, such as Maker Austria, Happy Lab, Infineon Hub, Factory Hub Vienna, Innovation Lab of FH Wiener Neustadt, Makerspace A, Gemini Startup Base, Makerspace Carinthia, the Tabakfabrik Linz, the GRAND GARAGE, the NOI Makerspace and many more.
